Covid -19 Telehealth Consults | FLU Immunisation information
On 29 March 2020, the Minister for Health announced that Telehealth services would be expanded to all Australians in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. ‘Whole of population’ Telehealth services were introduced on 30 March 2020. The changes mean GPs can now provide more services to their patients via telehealth, regardless of the health status of both the GP and the patient.
The Family Health is offering these consultations for all our patients across the board.
These consultations would assist in reducing the exposure of Covid-19, by reducing the risks to patients of either sharing or being exposed to other patients who may be unwell.
Regular face to face consultations will still be available. We understand that the telehealth consultations will not be appropriate for all patients. An example is where the patient's symptoms require a physical examination. or if they require a procedure, or an immunisation.
The telehealth would be very appropriate for regular scripts, referrals and results review.
When making an appointment our reception staff may offer a Telehealth consultation and if you are happy with this then an appointment would be made and we will call you as close as possible to the time of your appointment.
Telehealth consultations at our Clinic will be billed through Medicare with your consent. Please see billing fees in the Clinic Information page.
At the time of your consultation you will be asked to confirm that you accept to assign the Medicare benefit to your Doctor.
To assist us and reduce the time spent and risk of exposure completing your FLU injection consent at the clinic, you are requested to do this Online.
